Corporate Responsibility in the Workplace

Workplace image 1NHBC is committed to providing a safe, stimulating and pleasant working environment and developing all of our staff to achieve their maximum potential.

As well as providing comprehensive HR and staff development practices and procedures, we have revised our staff appraisal system and training and development procedures to ensure our employees develop the skills, competencies and qualities needed to succeed and progress their careers now and in the future.

Workplace image 2We also support the ongoing professional development of our staff and encourage membership of relevant professional bodies.

Obtaining regular feedback and opinions from staff is important to us and we run a staff survey at least once a year. We also have a range of established communication channels to encourage knowledge sharing and feedback, including regular business bulletins, staff magazines, open dialogue with senior management, team meetings and conferences across the business.

Underlining our commitment to provide a supportive environment for our staff, NHBC continues to maintain its IIP (Investors in People) status in the 2013, and we are proud of achieving One Star accreditation in the 2014 Best Companies Employee Survey.

Looking after colleagues is important in any workplace and staff have been consulted on what wellbeing means to them, providing input into a programme to provide wellbeing related benefits across the organisation.
