Sir Graham Hart
Sir Graham Hart was appointed to the Board of NHBC in December 2003. In March 2004 he was appointed Chairman of the Consumer Committee. Until his retirement in 1997, Sir Graham spent 35 years at the Department of Health becoming Permanent Secretary in 1992 until 1997. He is currently Chairman of a range of important consumer and health organisations including Citizens Advice, The Kings Fund, The Pharmacy Practice Research Trust and the Appointments Committee of the General Dental Council. He is also a member of the Audit Commission.
Mike Freshney
Chairman of NHBC Standards Review Group. Non Executive Director of CALA Homes. Non Executive Director of Westerman Homes Ltd. Director of NHBC Building Control Ltd. Director of the Housebuilders Federation Ltd. Member of the European Commission Accessibility Working Group.
Trisha McAuley
Head of Corporate Resources at the Scottish Consumer Council and leads the SCC's policy portfolio in relation to self-regulation and consumer issues in the construction industry, and in communications, energy, water and postal services. A member of NHBC's Scottish Committee.
Ron Gainsford
Ron brings to the Consumer Committee a wide knowledge of consumer matters.
He is Chief Executive of the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) and has a number of other appointments including directorships of the British Board of Agrément (BBA), Registry Trust Limited and the trading company of TSI, itsa Limited. He is an Executive Board member of the European Consumer Safety Association (ECOSA) and Eurosafe. He is also a founding member of the Product Safety Forum of Europe (PROSAFE) and has widescale experience in the provision of consumer protection and trading standards expertise to European and overseas countries.
Ron has long experience in local government. As a trading standards professional he has worked in various local authorities. He was an assistant director with LACORS (Local Authorities Co-ordinators of Regulatory Services) for several years and therefore engaged with the local authority Associations for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland at policy and operational level.
His role with TSI continues Ron's dialogue with Government at all levels and through Parliamentary channels.
Judith Gubbay
Consumer Director for 'Good Housekeeping' magazine. Judith has considerable experience of consumer related issues. She previously worked with the Consumer Association and is a member of the Institute of Consumer Affairs.
Caroline Kemp
An independent consultant with wide experience in the voluntary, public and commercial sectors. Caroline has worked as a manager in the Citizens Advice Bureau for several years and has extensive experience and knowledge of consumer issues.
