Report of the Consumer Committee meeting held 12 March 2003

The Committee received an update on the revision to a booklet entitled 'A Guide to Your New Home'. The Consumer Committee has made a significant input to the revision to this booklet which is available to home owners on request.

The Consumer Committee, through its representation on the Standards Committee, has encouraged the use of very clear language in the drafting of NHBC Technical Standards.

The results of the latest round of Mystery Shopping research were presented to the Committee. Overall the results were very good, with excellent results having been received from the Claims Handling section of the business.

A review of the work of the Committee since its inception in 1998 had been prepared and it was agreed that this should be shared with the Board of Directors of NHBC, with the view of obtaining a statement from it on the contributions made by the Committee. This also included the plan for the Committee's future work.

It was agreed that Ms Trisha McAuley, Head of Corporate resources for the Scottish Consumer Council should be asked to join the Committee.

The Committee met again on 10 June 2003 and a report of that meeting will be posted to this website as soon as the Committee at its next meeting on 30 September has approved the minutes.
