Pre-completion testing for Part E

As UKAS-accredited testing laboratory No.2688, NHBC provides testing services with nationwide coverage to help address Approved Document E of The Building Regulations.  Our advice can help to optimise designs and reduce risk of failure to meet required standards, helping to reduce costs. 

  • Pre-completion testing
    Our technicians will test the floors and walls of attached properties on a sample of units.  They will fit around your construction schedule, and provide an immediate indication of results. If you want guidance before testing, our design review service offers independent, practical advice on getting the right results. We can also offer free remedial advice. Combine with NHBC Building Control for an efficient route to achieving compliance.

  • Design stage consultancy, including planning condition advice
    For conversion schemes, using the design review service and having some tests at an early stage could minimise the risk of expensive remedial works and potentially reduce the acoustic design specification.  We can make recommendations to overcome identifed weaknesses.

  • Schools and hotels
    Our range of services, from design review through to testing, is often used on non-residential projects.  Alongside the education and leisure sectors, commercial, retail and mixed-use schemes are also covered.

  • Sustainability advice and testing - gain credits for the Code for Sustainable Homes
    Up to four credits are available within the Code for Sustainable Homes if you can achieve higher standards of sound insulation than the current Building Regulations.   Our experience could help you achieve them.
