Bespoke inspection plan for award-winning design
This nine storey development for Metropolitan Housing Trust incorporates a KLH timber panel and frame system. The specialist design is estimated to save the equivalent of 210 years of carbon emissions compared to a concrete frame building. This is the first example of this type of construction in the UK and involved detailed discussions with NHBC and BRE to ensure the proposals met the Building Regulations and NHBC standards.
A bespoke inspection plan was also used to provide support to the client and contractor. The completed scheme has won a number of awards, including the British Homes Award for Best Innovative Development. It was shortlisted for the RIBA Awards for Architectural Innovation.
