NHBC Building Control Services has become a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) CPD provider's Network and is offering to provide free CPD to architectural practices across England and Wales.
As a Building Control Body, NHBC is uniquely placed on the RIBA scheme to provide accredited CPD material in respect of the Building Regulations and associated requirements.
A new CPD workshop which has been formally submitted for RIBA accreditation and covers the British Standard BS9999 (Fire Safety Design in Commercial Buildings) which can be used as an alternative approach to Approved Document Part B in Commercial Buildings.
BS9999 uses fire engineering principles and a risk based approach, taking account of features such as automatic fire detection, higher ceiling heights and sprinklers. This can allow increased travel distances and narrower door and stair widths for your project as compared to Approved Document Part B.
