Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)
What is an EPC?
An Energy Performance Certificate graphically shows the energy efficiency of a home in terms of fuel costs and environmental impact.
An EPC is mandatory for any property sales or rental agreements in accordance with the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive implemented across Europe. It must be produced by an accredited energy assessor using approved software, and should be made available when the property is completed.
In England, the EPC provides the home owner with simple energy efficiency advice and recommendations to reduce the property's environmental impact. The level of energy efficiency improvements suggested for a new build dwelling will be minimal, however for an existing house dwelling there could be many recommendations.
How NHBC can help
Call 0844 633 1000 and ask for Sales if you want to order or ask a question.
NHBC assessors are accredited by NES to produce SAPs to demonstrate your compliance with Building Regulations, and to carry out 'On Construction' EPCs.
We also offer independent advice on how to meet energy efficiency standards of Building Regulations or targets set by Planners or the Code for Sustainable Homes.
We help you prepare for changes to building regulations, advising on the impact of the revised Part L 2010.
NHBC assessors maintain regular dialogue with your team throughout the assessment. All SAP and EPC certificates will be delivered to you by e-mail. All calculations are done off-plan with no site visits necessary.
