Documentation
Most building projects involve completing paperwork in order to protect employees, meet a legal duty to the new property owner and ensure risk is well managed. Whether documentation is a legal requirement or used to enable better project management, NHBC can help.
Health and Safety files
The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 1997 require a health and safety file to be passed on to the purchasers of new homes.
NHBC can prepare a Homeowner Health and Safety File for each unit built as part of our CDM Co-ordination service.
Once the property is completed, the file is sent to the developer, detailing any outstanding information that needs to be added by them before handing it to the purchaser.
Risk assessments
Our generic risk assessments are invaluable when deciding what action to undertake to solve particular problems. Our health and safety team can advise you on implementing these risk controls on your site.
Health and safety policies and procedures
If you employ 5 or more people you have a legal duty to prepare a health and safety policy. This document states how your organisation intends to manage its health and safety responsibilities.
NHBC is experienced at preparing health and safety policy and procedures documents, tailored to reflect the management structure and activity of your organisation. We can also review and update your existing policy and procedures.
The policy covers:
- Statement of Intent
- Organisational arrangements
- Duties and responsibilities
The procedures cover what your organisation actually does in the work environment and may include:
- Site set up/security
- Traffic management
- First aid arrangements
- Scaffolding
- Plant and equipment
- Excavations
- Ladders
- Working at height
- Welfare
