Covering emergencies in the first two years

Builders of new homes are responsible for emergency cover in the first two years. In addition the new Consumer Code for Home Builders says that "you must explain the process for handling emergencies".

You can cover emergencies with your own contractors, but when a customer calls at 11.00 on a Saturday night with an emergency it's not easy to respond in a way that protects and enhances your reputation.

We can cover emergencies for you

NHBC, in association with HomeServe, has launched a service to cover emergencies in the first two years. In an emergency situation Home Emergency Assistance cover, will provide your customers with a swift response and your own operations will not be disrupted. HomeServe uses its own contractors to provide this service and, in the event of an emergency, aims to be at the property within two hours, with the exception of heating emergencies which are attended to by the following day.
