Code for Sustainable Homes consultation

Code consultation launched

On 17th December 2009, Housing Minister John Healey announced a consultation to improve the Code for Sustainable Homes, covering both policy and technical aspects of the Code, saying it is time "to make it a more user-friendly standard for consumers."

The consultation outlined three key areas:

  • Aligning the Code with the latest Zero Carbon homes policy, and consulting on the new energy efficiency standard

  • Streamlining the Standard and processes to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy

  • Finding practical solutions to problems that have arisen to date.

NHBC responded to the consultation which closed on 24 March 2010.

A summary of the consultation is available here (pdf)

Details on the full consultation can be viewed here (External site)

New guidance was also announced for two important updates for current Code assessments
