The National Quality Mark Scheme for Land Contamination Management (NQMS) will be launched in January 2017.

The aim of the scheme is to provide increased confidence and improved quality of submissions made under regulatory regimes, particularly planning applications, related to previously used land.

The scheme was developed by The Land Forum and further details are available on their website here. Developed for use in England, it can be modified for use in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The NQMS and NHBC Standards

As the UK’s leading warranty provider and standards setter within the new-build residential sector, in addition to our role as a Registered Building Control Approver, we welcome any initiatives aimed at raising standards. We recognise the significant progress made with the development of the National Quality Mark Scheme, however we do not currently propose to rely solely on this route to demonstrate compliance on sites where NHBC is providing Building Control and/or warranty services.
