NHBC leads the way in house-building quality
NHBC is the standard setting body for new homes in the UK.
House-building standards are agreed by a committee representing organisations interested in raising the building standards of new and converted homes. Builders, consumer organisations and professional institutions are all represented.
NHBC's building standards take into account current Building Regulations, British Standards and NHBC's own claims record of defects. We believe that prevention is better than cure, so building standards are continually updated to minimise defects and improve house-building quality.
House-building warranty
Over 80% of new homes that are built in the UK are registered with NHBC, benefiting from our 10-year new house-building warranty, Buildmark. About 1.7 million homeowners have a Buildmark house building warranty, protecting them from defects and damage due to a breach of NHBC's Standards. As well as new home buyers, our customers include registered builders and developers.
