NHBC announces series of Home User Guide workshops

In response to the growing demand for the new online Home User Guide (HUG), NHBC has announced a series of five workshops to demonstrate this unique, interactive system and showcase what it can offer both builders and homeowners.

With more than 40 builders across the UK already up and running, and thousands of HUGs in production, NHBC and builders are really excited about this great new tool. The NHBC HUG is the ultimate in online home management and only available with Buildmark warranty - bringing home handover information into the 21st Century, replacing or complementing existing paper packs.

Accessed via a secure login from a computer or tablet, buyers of new homes can use HUG to easily access all the information they need to run their home, including appliance manuals, DIY how-to guides, home specification facts such as paint colours, local area information and full details of the NHBC Buildmark warranty.

The series of workshops in June this year will provide builders a fantastic opportunity to learn more about HUG and the advantages of adding this to their portfolio for prospective home buyers. These short, informative sessions will provide an overview of HUG, along with demonstrations and a chance to take a tour around the portal.

The five initial workshop dates have been confirmed as:

  • Birmingham - Tuesday 10 June
  • London - Thursday 12 June
  • Manchester - Tuesday 24 June
  • Newcastle - Wednesday 25 June
  • Edinburgh - Thursday 26 June

To find out more about the venues and timings, builders should register their interest by email to

Toby Phillips, Operations Manager, NHBC, said: "Traditionally, most builders have been presenting the owners of new homes with a printed pack of information on the day they move in. Now, with the NHBC HUG, they can bring this up to date and provide the information online - and at an earlier stage if they wish because HUG can be available from the point of reservation.

"HUG both streamlines the handover process for NHBC registered builders and provides their homeowner customer with a much improved source of information. The workshops that we have just announced offer a fantastic opportunity for builders to learn more about HUG, and see for themselves how they can improve their customer journey and satisfaction by offering this exclusive product".
