Mr Huddleston, who is contesting the seat of Mid Worcestershire in the upcoming General Election, met with representatives from NHBC and the developers, Persimmon, at their Blossom Fields site in Evesham. The development is providing £30 million of investment on a former orchard and allotment site, creating 362 jobs for the local economy.

The event was organised by NHBC, the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK, to highlight its risk management processes and to show the Parliamentary candidate a prime example of homes being built to meet current building regulations. NHBC figures show that housing starts have increased in Mid Worcestershire from 354 in 2012 to 597 in 2013, then to 642 in 2014 (subject to adjustments).

Commenting on the visit, Mr Huddleston said: "I was delighted to meet with NHBC and Persimmon today and learn more about the work they are doing to reassure people about the quality of their new homes. I was very pleased to hear that new homes in Mid Worcestershire have consistently outperformed the UK average over the last couple of years. Buying and moving into a new home can be an incredibly stressful experience and the NHBC 10 year warranty can help take some worry out of the process".

Andrew Peters, Persimmon Homes South Midlands Managing Director, commented: "We were delighted to welcome Mr Huddleston to our Blossom Fields development today. It is a fantastic site that has not only created hundreds of much needed jobs in the community it has also been extremely popular with house hunters attracting a wide range of buyers, many of whom took advantage of the Government-backed Help to Buy Scheme".

Ólöf Jónsdóttir, NHBC's Public Affairs Manager said: "NHBC registered 146,895 new homes for development in 2014 across the UK, up 9% on 2013, with research showing that 245,000 homes are needed every year to meet demand. As supply grows to meet this need, it is vital that we continue to deliver on standards, and NHBC will work with the industry and Parliamentarians to ensure that the build quality of new homes in the UK remains high".
