Parliamentary candidate visits brownfield redevelopment providing housing boost for local community

Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, Ranil Jayawardena, today visited a small brownfield housing development in Odiham that is protected by NHBC's 10 year Buildmark warranty. Mr Jayawardena, who is contesting the seat of North East Hampshire in the upcoming General Election, met with representatives from NHBC and the developers, Linden Homes, at their Allingham Mews redevelopment site, which will provide 20 homes when complete.

The event was organised by NHBC, the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK, to highlight its risk management processes and to show the Parliamentary Candidate a prime example of new homes being built on redundant commercial land that meet building regulations.

Commenting on the visit, Mr Jayawardena said: "It is good to see brownfield sites being brought back into use for homes in this area - many people want to live close to local shops and services. I hope to see more high-quality new homes being sited on disused land, such as those in Allingham Mews, rather than on greenfield sites."

Managing Director Peter Youll said: "We are always keen to showcase our developments and were delighted to host Mr Jayawardena at our Allingham Mews development in Odiham. The properties at Allingham Mews have been well received and buyers here have been particularly attracted to the development for the convenience of the location, which is right on Odiham high street with all of its amenities. The homes here are synonymous with the high quality people have come to expect from our portfolio of properties at Linden Homes".

Lewis Sidnick, NHBC's Head of Corporate and External Affairs said: "We're delighted to be able to show Ranil Jayawardena first-hand how we are supporting builders to construct high quality new homes on brownfield sites in North East Hampshire. As supply grows to meet the growing need for housing, it is vital that we continue to deliver high standards on-site and we will continue to work with the industry and all political parties to ensure that the build quality of new homes in the UK remains high".
