Conor Burns, MP for Bournemouth West, yesterday visited a new seafront development in Bournemouth that is protected by NHBC's 10 year Buildmark warranty.

Mr Burns met with representatives from NHBC and the developers, Taylor Wimpey, at their Coast development, which will provide a variety of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and 2 and 3 bedroom penthouses. Of the 86 apartments being built, 9 will be holiday lets.

The site is the former Bournemouth International Hotel and Ocean Palace Restaurant, so is in a desirable location, being only minutes from the seafront, town centre and the Bournemouth International Centre.

The Coast development is currently being monitored by NHBC Special Projects department and is still under construction. The picturesque views over Bournemouth's award-winning beaches mean that demand is high for these apartments and 10 have already been sold off-plan.

NHBC's unique constituency-based figures show that in Bournemouth West, the number of new homes started grew by 60% from 2013 to 2014. In 2013, 63 homes were started in Mr Burns' constituency, more than doubling to 157 last year. These new apartments will therefore be providing a boost of new homes for the local area.

The site visit was organised by NHBC, the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK, to highlight its risk management processes and to show the MP a prime example of new homes that meet current building regulations.

Conor Burns MP commented: "It was a pleasure to visit this site. Having watched this building take shape it is good to see new quality homes coming onto the market. This high quality development is yet another note of confidence in Bournemouth by the private sector and is to be warmly welcomed".

David Brown, Managing Director of Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, said: "It was a privilege to welcome Mr Burns to our Coast development in Bournemouth and we are grateful that he was able to take the time to come and visit us.

"We are very proud of this flagship apartment development and the visit gave us a fantastic opportunity to show Mr Burns how we are helping to regenerate the area with the provision of high-quality homes and holiday lets, and also how the scheme is delivering a host of economic benefits to Bournemouth."

Melvin Elford, Taylor Wimpey Project Manager at Coast, said: "Coast is a hugely exciting project and a fantastic scheme to be a part of. It was great to be able to show Mr Burns around the site so he could see how well things are progressing as the development takes shape."

Lewis Sidnick, NHBC Head of Corporate and External Affairs said: "We were delighted to be able to show Conor Burns first-hand how we are supporting builders to construct high quality homes in Bournemouth West. It is vital that we deliver high standards on-site as the industry works to meet the growing need for housing. NHBC will continue to work with the industry and all political parties to ensure that the build quality of new homes in the UK remains high."
