'Fantastic four' of South West housebuilding rewarded for exceptional homes

The four best housebuilding site managers in the South West have been recognised for their exemplary commitment to building new houses of outstanding quality, at the regional final of the industry's most prestigious awards scheme.

The regional winners of the Pride in the Job Awards, run by NHBC (National House-Building Council), beat a shortlist of exceptionally skilled site managers to take the title in their categories. Their success was recognised last Friday (9 September) at a ceremony held at Old Brunel's Station in Bristol. Chosen from over 13,000 site managers nationwide working on projects registered with NHBC, the UK's leading new-home warranty and insurance provider, they will now represent the South West at the competition's grand final in January, hoping to secure their place as the nation's best housebuilder. The winners are:

Philip Voisey, of family business NT Voisey & Co Ltd

Philip won the Small Builder category for his Applehayes Rise development in Easton-in-Gordano; he has shown a continued commitment to improving build standards on site

Jason Hockey, of CG Fry & Son Ltd

Jason won the Medium Builder category for his work on the Old Kelways development in Langport; a site manager with a history of success in the competition, his 2011 regional title marks a return to winning ways

Mike Crawford, of Taylor Wimpey Exeter

Mike is no stranger to Pride in the Job success, winning the Large Builder category regional title for the second successive year for his Warleigh Village build in Plymouth; a driven individual, he was unlucky not to be named the national Supreme Winner last year.

Steve Ames, of Berkeley Southern Ltd

Steve won the Multistorey Builder category for his work on the Royal Clarence Marina in Gosport; describing his project as a 'happy ship', he has worked for 19 years with his present company, and takes his first Pride in the Job regional title.

Pride in the Job is the only awards scheme to reward site managers for the unique contribution they make to the housebuilding process, being responsible for delivering high quality homes by directing projects from start to finish.

Jim Lyons, NHBC Regional Director for the South West, said: "Pride in the Job has been instrumental in raising the build quality of new homes in the UK for over three decades, with housebuilders now routinely striving for perfection in their work. A Pride in the Job award at any level marks the recipient out as a top performer, showing their true diligence and commitment to producing the best quality homes possible, but to win a Regional title demonstrates something just that little bit special."
