Prestigious award wins for highest quality housebuilding in East of England

The four best housebuilding site managers in the East of England have been recognised for their exemplary commitment to building new houses of outstanding quality, at the regional final of the industry's most prestigious awards scheme.

The regional winners of the Pride in the Job Awards, run by NHBC, beat a shortlist of exceptionally skilled site managers to take the title in their categories. Their success was recognised last Friday (21 October) at a ceremony held at the Athena in Leicester. Chosen from over 13,000 site managers nationwide working on projects registered with NHBC, the UK's leading new-home warranty and insurance provider, they will now represent the East at the competition's grand final in January, hoping to secure their place as the nation's best housebuilder. The winners are:

Kevin Shaw, of Fielden Ltd

Kevin won the Small Builder category for his Church Farm Rise site in Aldeburgh; after winning his first ever quality award and seal of excellence in 2010, Kevin has stepped up to take the Regional award this year, building homes of the very highest quality in an affluent sea-side town, with every home completed to a bespoke design and finish

Martin Bottomley, of William Davis Ltd

Martin won the Medium Builder category for his work on Morledge Farm in Matlock; a previous regional winner, Martin constantly strives to improve the quality of the homes he builds on this picturesque prime location with superb views

Gary Sidney of Bellway Homes East Midlands

Gary won the very hotly contested Large Builder category title for his Poppyfields site in Newton; disappointed not to win an award in 2010 after taking over and improving an existing site for his new company, Gary has this year won not only his first Seal of Excellence but also the Regional Award

Terry Huntington, of Crest Nicholson Eastern Ltd

Terry won the Multistorey Builder category title for his work on the Kaleidoscope development in Cambridge; a regular winner of his company's own in-house awards scheme, Terry is a previous regional Pride in the Job winner too, for this large and complex development in the centre of Cambridge

Pride in the Job is the only awards scheme to reward site managers for the unique contribution they make to the housebuilding process, being responsible for delivering high quality homes by directing projects from start to finish.

Richard Hartshorn, NHBC Regional Director for the East of England, said:

"Pride in the Job has been instrumental in raising the build quality of new homes in the UK for over three decades, with housebuilders now routinely striving for perfection in their work. A Pride in the Job award at any level marks the recipient out as a top performer, showing their true diligence and commitment to producing the best quality homes possible, but to win a Regional title demonstrates something just that little bit special."
