The regional winners of the Pride in the Job Awards, run by NHBC (National House-Building Council), beat a shortlist of exceptionally skilled site managers to take the title in their categories. Their success was recognised last Friday (28 October) at a ceremony held at York Racecourse. Chosen from over 13,000 site managers nationwide working on projects registered with NHBC, the UK's leading new-home warranty and insurance provider, they will now represent the North East at the competition's grand final in January, hoping to secure their place as the nation's best site manager. The winners are:

Richard Bettison, of Risby Homes Ltd

Richard won the Small Builder category for his Beehive House development in Keldgate Bar, Beverley; working on a tight inner city development of well-crafted houses, Richard demonstrates an eye for detail in his work, and is personally involved in the design of the site as well as the build process

Andrew Dawson, of Barratt and David Wilson Homes North East

Andrew won the Large Builder category title for his Burton Woods development in Spennymoor; a regular award winner over the past five years, Andrew says he enjoys working with his team to produce the best quality possible, and shows attention to detail in both the build and management processes

Gary Williams, of Frank Haslam Milan & Co Ltd

Gary won the Multi-storey Builder category for his work on The Crossings development in Hull; The Crossings, a hostel for people recovering from alcohol and drug misuse, is a high specification city centre development located next to the River Hull on a difficult site requiring extensive remediation, complex foundation work and a mix of building methods

Pride in the Job is the only award scheme to reward site managers for the unique contribution they make to the house building process, being responsible for delivering high quality homes by directing projects from start to finish.

Geoff Egginton, NHBC Regional Director for the North East of England, said:

"Pride in the Job has been instrumental in raising the build quality of new homes in the UK for over three decades, with many house builders now routinely striving for perfection in their work. A Pride in the Job award at any level marks the recipient out as a top performer, showing their true diligence and commitment to producing the best quality homes possible, but to win a Regional title demonstrates something just that little bit special."
