First Round of Winners Announced in Pride in the Job Awards 19/07/06
The first round results of NHBC's annual Pride in the Job competition have just been announced. 400 site managers have been selected from more than 18,000 sites across the UK to receive `Quality Awards' - the first step towards the ultimate accolade of becoming a `Supreme' Pride in the Job winner for 2006.
Barratt Homes Ltd site managers have secured the most awards with a total of 52 Quality Awards. Also featuring strongly are George Wimpey UK Ltd and Persimmon Homes Ltd who took the second and third largest number of awards respectively. Judging began 12 months ago to find this year's winners. All sites are judged across a total of 38 site management activities. In particular, judges are looking for consistently high standards of site management, including quality workmanship across all trades, good leadership skills, technical expertise, good health and safety control and overall commitment to building quality new homes. NHBC's Chief Executive, Imtiaz Farookhi, says: `At a time when house building remains so high on the political agenda, the issue of quality in new house building has never been more relevant. Over 18,000 site managers compete to win a Pride in the Job award and the commitment required is immense. A Pride in the Job winning site manager recognises that quality is not simply a luxury, nor an added-extra - it is a core requirement of today's homebuyer.' All the 400 site managers will now go forward to compete in the next round for a `Top 100 Seal of Excellence' Award and then a `Regional' Award. The competition reaches its climax in January 2007 when the UK's three Supreme winners will be announced at a Gala awards ceremony in London. NHBC is the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK. NHBC's primary purpose is to raise standards in the new house-building industry and provide consumer protection for new house buyers. ends Notes to editors: Award categories for Pride in the Job 2006:
