
NHBC Names UK's Three Best Site Managers 11/01/08
The three best housing site managers in the UK have been named tonight at NHBC's Pride in the Job Awards Gala final.
Selected from more than 18,000 site managers, the three `Supreme' Award winners have been recognised for building the best quality new homes in the country. Kirsty Gallacher of Ant and Dec's `Saturday Night Takeaway' presented the awards at a prestigious Gala ceremony in London. The winners are: NHBC's Chief Executive, Imtiaz Farookhi said: "With Government plans to build three million new homes by 2020, NHBC's Pride in the Job competition and its focus on delivering a quality end product for homeowners has never been more important. "For more than a quarter of a century Pride in the Job has recognised those site managers, who, through their uncompromising approach to site management, produce new homes which are built and finished to the highest possible standard. "The site mangers who are selected for awards - right through from the 400 Quality Award winners to the overall UK Supreme Winners - exemplify the Pride in the Job standard. As well as creating beautifully finished homes that are a pleasure to live in, they are testament to the very high standards that can be achieved." Pride in the Job rewards site managers who demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism in every aspect of their work on site, from their organisation of the site to the quality controls in place. As one of the most intense and celebrated competitions in the industry, Pride in the Job is famous for establishing its winners as the best in their field. In recognition of the high standards site managers must achieve to make it to the final of Pride in the Job, awards were also presented to runners up in each of the builder categories: Runners Up: - Large category - David Bullock of Persimmon Homes Wales for his site of more than 300 homes at Wyncliffe Gardens, Pentywn in Cardiff. - Multistorey category - Stephen Vorres of Taylor Woodrow Construction (Wales) Ltd for his site of almost 500 flats at Victoria Wharf, Grangetown in Cardiff. - Small to medium category - Richard Pearce of RPA Building Services Ltd for his site of detached homes at Park Avenue, Waterlooville in Hampshire.
a) Large - site manager for a company or group of companies with an annual output of more than 300 homes a year.
b) Small to Medium - site manager for a company or group of companies with an annual output of less than 300 homes a year.
c) Multistorey - site manager in either of the above categories on structures above 3 storeys.
