UK New House Building Statistics - October 2005 18/11/05

Statistics released today by NHBC reveal that new build completions for the combined public and private sectors totalled 13,752 in October 2005, a one per cent decrease on the same month last year (13,900).

Figures also show that there were 13,488 applications to start new homes in October, a decrease of six per cent on the same month last year (14,415). Within this total there were 2,422 UK housing association applications, showing a 51 per cent increase on October of the previous year (1,608).

Additional information from NHBC shows that an average of 559 new homes were sold each day during October 2005, a nine per cent increase on the same month last year (511).

Imtiaz Farookhi, Chief Executive of NHBC, says: "The number of NHBC housing association applications to start new homes has risen substantially on last year. So far this year our figures show that there have been 25,353 housing association applications to start new homes, a rise of 36 per cent on the same period last year (18,624)."
