Land Quality Endorsement Services

Our engineers assess all forms of brownfield and marginal land, supporting the delivery of solutions that satisfy NHBC's requirements for residential development. We aim to accommodate clients at all stages of development by offering two core land quality endorsement services:

Full LQE Service

The full LQE service provides the opportunity for proactive NHBC involvement and assessment during the entire reclamation or remediation scheme, from project inception through to final verification. Upon closure of the project, a Certificate of Land Quality Endorsement is issued, detailing what is acceptable to NHBC and any works outstanding for the acceptability of Buildmark warranty cover.

LQE Technical Assessment

The LQE Technical Assessment service provides the opportunity for NHBC to review proposals for remediation/reclamation works or assess works that have been completed. Our assessments enable us to determine whether the works were undertaken in accordance with the NHBC Standards and to determine acceptability for Buildmark warranty cover.

Reassurance on complex sites

NHBC is already helping on some of the largest remediation schemes and challenging sites in Europe - open cast coal mines, landfills, cement works and chalk pits. NHBC's assessment of the remediation process, from site investigation through to verification, can help address planning conditions and has been used in appeals.

The service is particularly beneficial to sites that will be remediated for subsequent sale to developers of new housing or mixed-use schemes.


Yorkshire Contaminated Land Forum 2017

NHBC were pleased to support the Yorkshire Contaminated Land Forum 10th anniversary and Charity Dinner on November 9 2017 held at the Met Hotel Leeds.

  Members of the NHBC Land Quality Endorsement team and their guests celebrated 10 years of YCLF the remarkable achievements since inception in 2007.

Fabulous raffle prizes were donated by YCLF and NHBC and over £1,000 was raised on the night for two local charities (Martin House and Ravenscliffe High School). Guest speaker Mike Goodfellow-Smith from Quest for Future Solutions provided a thought provoking address and left the room considering how YCLF and its members should consider the next ten years of land restoration.

Service - Full LQE Service

Overview - This site was a former grain distillery and cooperage, the existing buildings have been demolished. It is proposed that 6 parcels of land will be brought forward for development of circa 600 new homes. Our team will work with the client to oversee the formation of these new development platforms which require up to 8m of cut and engineered fill operations, alongside establishment of the landscape framework, construction of roads, install of utilities and an innovative SUDs drainage scheme.

Overview - This site is a former quarry and landfill, which is currently undeveloped and covers two land parcels. Significant earthworks are proposed to produce development platforms suitable for the construction of approximately 330 residential properties.
