Buildmark Connect policy details

The following is a summary of the Buildmark Connect cover we provide:

During the first 2 years

During this period, the contractor is responsible for putting right defects or damage to the premises or the common parts caused by their failiure to build to our Technical Requirements.  They must do this within a reasonable time and at their own expense. If the contractor fails to do so or becomes insolvent, we insure their obligations.

During years 3 to 10

In this period, we provide insurance cover, underwritten by Aviva, against the cost of putting right damage caused by defects to most parts of the premises.

These parts of the premises are covered:

  • Foundations
  • Load-bearing walls
  • Load-bearing parts of the roof
  • Wet-applied wall plaster
  • External render and external vertical tile hanging
  • Roof coverings
  • Load-bearing parts of the floors
  • Staircases and internal floor decking and screeds where these fail to support normal loads
  • Retaining walls necessary for the structural stability of the premises and any garage or other permanent outbuilding forming part of, and constructed at the same time as the premises
  • Below-ground drainage for which you are responsible

Contaminated land

Buildmark Connect also protects you if you are served, or are likely to be served, a Statutory Notice about contamination of the land that existed at completion.

What's not covered?

Buildmark Connect does not cover general wear and tear, condensation, normal shrinkage, cosmetic damage or damage arising from failure to maintain the property or resulting from alterations to the premises.  You should refer to the full policy document for information on all exclusions and limitations that apply.
