Warranty and insurance options for PRS developments

Buildmark Choice is our warranty and insurance cover for newly built or converted rental developments. It is designed to protect landlords and asset owners from the risk of structural failures and the impacts that can have on their business.

Recognising that all PRS schemes have different requirements, NHBC offers flexible cover to suit your needs, including: structural defects-only insurance, flexible warranty periods; and policy re-assignment if units are sold within the cover period.

Our Choice product also has additional benefits:

  • Loss of rent cover and cost of alternative accommodation
  • Cover for contaminated land on which the home is built if you receive - or the condition of the land is such that you could receive - a statutory notice
  • Protection for breaches of Building Regulations if NHBC Building Control Services Ltd is appointed for building control

Machinery Inherent Defects Insurance

Helping you manage development risk

Elements of communal developments can sometimes carry additional risks, which may not currently be covered under the Buildmark Choice warranty and insurance product.

To help bridge this gap we, in conjunction with HSB Engineering Insurance, a market leading underwriter of engineering risks, are able to introduce to you two types of Machinery Inherent Defects Insurance, for either Apartments or District Heating.
