At NHBC, quality and raising standards are at the centre of everything we do, so we flag potential problems early on. We are aware of the market – the need for speed of construction and skills shortage. Solutions proposed only a few years ago may no longer be possible due to these influences. Our team have close links with Building Control, Warranty and Claims departments which provides an unrivalled insight into the practicality of design decisions.
You need a good understanding of what planners ask of you in this area and our team can help you with the strategies, designs and reports you'll need to satisfy energy-related conditions, BREEAM or Code for Sustainable Homes requirements. Our team offers:

Throughout the project we will project manage the assessment, co-ordinating your team regards drainage, mechanical and electrical design, ecology etc.
There are a number of credits in BREEAM which have no direct cost associated with them, apart from the time taken to collate the evidence. We will undertake the following at no additional cost:
We also provide a combined BREEAM and SBEM service for commercial building projects, as well as Building Control, acoustic and air leakage services.
The Deregulation Act 2015 withdrew the Code in March 2015, but we are still seeing legacy requirements for many sites.
Since the Code’s arrival in 2007, our team of licenced assessors have undertaken thousands of assessments. Working with volume house builders, major land-owning clients and enthusiastic self-builders, we undertake as much work as possible on your behalf to ease the assessment and certification process as much as possible.
We undertake material calculations, basic daylighting calculations, collate responsible sourcing certificates, co-ordinate with your own consultants regarding drainage and ecology…and more.
The key to Code is getting the strategy right to begin with. Talk to us early! We can help appraise the options available for achieving your required Code level. This in turn will reduce costs where possible and manage the risk of gaining certification.
