NHBC Accepted Products and Systems

Building confidence in innovative construction

Building confidence in innovative construction

NHBC Accepts is our comprehensive review service for innovative products and systems.  It is the fast-track route for acceptance of these products and systems for use in homes covered by all NHBC warranty and insurance policies, equivalent to around 70-80% of the new homes built in the UK each year.

With the demands on the industry to increase the volume of new homes’ supply and the simultaneous challenges around materials and skills, we are at a critical stage in the development of modern methods of construction (MMC). We are proud to be using our scale, expertise and knowledge of house building to work with manufacturers to provide developers, investors, lenders and home buyers with the confidence that innovative products and systems can meet the same high standards of quality and durability as traditionally-built homes.

An NHBC Accepts logo shows that an innovative product or system has been rigorously assessed and that we consider it can meet our robust NHBC Standards. It also demonstrates that, subject to appropriate design and installation, the system or product can be used in homes covered by all our warranty products.

Continuous improvement

Even once accepted, our process means that a new product or system being used out on sites has ongoing monitoring. We seek feedback from those working with the product on site, conduct factory visits and check our own inspection and claims data. Certification is fully checked and renewed annually.
