What you’ll be doing

As a Principal Construction Quality Analyst you will assist in the management of a team of professionally qualified construction quality analysts to develop and deliver a range of processes, procedures and services to harvest and analyse data and information on industry performance in terms of construction quality.

You will manage and ensure the retention and development of external and internal major customers by facilitating improvement in construction quality and reduction in build costs. Work across NHBC to inform and influence technical risk management focus, skills, and capability. At Group level you will establish causation behind issues and develop action plans to raise standards, improve quality and reduce costs.

This role demands a depth of responsibility to review technical risk management policies, procedures, standards, practices, and IT support systems, write reports, compile and manage data with advanced Microsoft Excel skills, presentations, and business cases required to win approval and finance to see successful delivery and acquisition of future works.

With strong organisation skills, you will be simultaneously managing projects to co-ordinate and plan work to maximise benefit and efficiency with a highly experienced team to meet our customer’s and NHBC service levels.

Location: Birmingham and surrounding areas.

  • Expert/ Senior level technical knowledge and experience of house building/construction, Regulations, and Standards, and a self-motivated drive to learn more each day
  • Able to interpret and convey complex technical information clearly
  • Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written
  • Excellent I.T. and software experience, report writing, data management, intermediate/advance Microsoft Excel skills compiling data, and spreadsheet management are essential
  • Insightful, creative, and persuasive whilst at the same time balancing diplomacy and relationship building
  • Strong leadership and people skills, supportive, encouraging, and a team player
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision in line with established policies and procedures
  • Curious mindset and driver of change, with a vision to make things happen
  • Act with due skill, care, and diligence; and be open and co-operative with NHBC’s regulators

Education and Qualifications  

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, relevant accredited HND/HNC qualification or higher with substantial industry experience
  • Have a relevant training/facilitation qualification and or membership of a relevant professional Chartered institution. (e.g. BILD, CIPD, Cert. Ed.)
