What you’ll be doing

  • Assist in the management of a multi-disciplinary team of professionally qualified Engineers and Surveyors.
  • Deputise for the Technical Operations Manager as and when required.
  • Undertaking quality monitoring of staff, including claims reviews / reports, as part of the quality management process.
  • Manage risk to NHBC Group on warranty products, claims, and NHBC BCS on building control applications in accordance with the relevant business area SLA’s, technical policies, and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure customer and statutory requirements are met.
  • Negotiate with developers, builders, and their professional advisors to ensure proposals are satisfactory in relation to building control, warranty, and land quality to relevant regulations/NHBC Standards.
  • Manage the warranty aspects by supporting inspection staff with the provision of expert advice, inspection of high-risk/complex elements of building work, and review of progress.
  • On claims, agree brief with client, undertake investigations, report on finding, prepare solutions for Remedial work schemes, issue tender information, assess costs and undertake site inspections.
  • Contribute to the Operations Directorate Business plan.
  • Promote NHBC’s business objectives and manage customer relationships.
  • Provide guidance to builders, their consultants, and NHBC on engineering aspects of the Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, and claims.
  • Proactively resolve customer complaints & manage conflict and disagreement by effective and appropriate escalation.

What we are looking for:

  • Extensive experience in building/construction industry with advanced knowledge of the housing and commercial sectors.
  • Experience of forensic investigations of buildings, defect identification, and repair.
  • IT literate with the ability to use a range of software programs. 
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written with appropriate interpersonal and presentational skills.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of all aspects of superstructure, foundation, and geotechnical design with regard to building structures.
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision in line with established policies and procedures.
  • Full driving licence.

Education and Qualifications  

  • A Chartered membership of an appropriate professional institution i.e. CEng/ MIStructE.
  • Construction / Engineering-related Degree or equivalent qualification.
