Overview
NHBC Building Control Services are the main Building Control provider for Mint Velvet ladies wear stores throughout England and Wales, working with Mint Velvet for over 5 years. Work involves fit out of new stores and refurbishment and alteration of existing units.
Added value
The scheme involved the fit out of a landlord altered unit in a Grade II listed building, The listed nature of the building created some obstacles as to how the requisite fire protection was to be achieved and NHBC worked with the designers to agree a satisfactory solution that met both the Building Regulatory requirements as well as the conservation requirements of the scheme. As the landlord unit had recently been split into two there were also concerns over the proposed means of escape to the rear of the building due to the combined escape from the shop units and the residential flats above, NHBC worked with the landlord to provide a safe yet secure escape route for both parties.
