NHBC is a modern, lifestyle and family friendly employer offering a range of corporate roles, and attracting applicants with a diverse range of skills and expertise. You’ll find jobs in our corporate team range from internal and external communications, marketing, data, strategy and insights, to jobs in finance, human resources, IT and legal. 

Business operations

Business Operations

Our field-based roles require an inspection or surveying background to investigate claims and coordinate repairs. We also have office-based claims handlers, often from a financial services background, whose job it is to support our homeowners. You’ll also find administrative support and customer services roles to apply for, where staff give technical and registration support to NHBC registered builders.

Field Tech

We employ field-based inspectors, engineers and surveyors to work with our registered builders and help them meet Building Regulations and NHBC Standards. We also have roles for professionals providing training, land quality and construction quality services to house builders and the wider construction industry. With our focus on learning and development, we employ graduate surveyors and those from a building-related discipline as trainees.

Actuarial

Our diverse range of actuarial roles offer employees the opportunity to use their skills to analyse claims, calculate insurance reserves and prepare statutory and regulatory returns. Our actuarial staff also have a vital role to play in assessing NHBC's regulatory capital requirements, monitor claims and provide important statistical summaries.

NHBC's purpose is to raise standards and protect homeowners.

We deliver this mission in a variety of ways including:

  • working closely with housebuilders, homeowners, politicians and other key stakeholders to set the build standards for new homes
  • checking new homes during construction
  • providing support and training to the industry and influencing important policy and regulation

We do this by working as a community and with collective focus to achieve success together. We bring commercial focus to our work, finding effective ways to deliver our ambitions. We demonstrate our professional and leadership expertise in all that we do, with a progressive and innovative approach.

In July 2016, NHBC was proud to become one of the first signatories of the HM Treasury Women in Finance Charter, a government-backed initiative designed to improve gender diversity in senior positions across the financial services sector. Increasing gender diversity is integral to our long-term goal for NHBC. We recognise that being able to attract, develop and retain top female talent is vital.

NHBC supports the Armed Forces Covenant

The Armed Forces Covenant acknowledges that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve. Our Silver Award recognises that we do not disadvantage service personnel during our recruiting process. We uphold a positive stance towards employees, offering flexibility to Reservists so they can fulfil their annual training and mobilisation commitments.

The UK Government’s Department for Work and Pensions developed the Disability Confident scheme to support employers to make the most of the talents people with disabilities and long-term health conditions can bring to the workplace. The scheme encourages employers to think differently about how they employ and retain disabled and neuro-diverse people. As a signatory of the scheme, NHBC is committed to disability inclusion in the workplace.

NHBC is a signatory of the Race at Work Charter

NHBC has joined with over 900 employers in signing up to the Race at Work Charter, an initiative designed for businesses to collectively commit to improving equal opportunities for Black, Asian, Mixed Race and ethnically diverse employees in the UK. Launched in 2018, the Race at Work Charter builds on the work of the 2017 McGregor-Smith Review, which found that people from these ethnically diverse backgrounds are still underemployed, underpromoted and under-represented at senior levels. The Race at Work Charter is composed of seven principal calls to action and signing up means taking practical steps to ensure we are tackling barriers that ethnic minority people face in recruitment and progression.
