Immersive Days frequently asked questions

: A Construction Quality Reviewer will visit two sites arranged by the customer and, using CQR data, will walk the site with the attendees looking at areas of concern. Discussions will focus on the 6-point scoring logic and where the attendees think the build stage is currently scoring at.
: The sessions suit site management, Contracts Managers and Construction Directors who are keen to gain a better understanding of how CQRs are completed, how the scoring logic is applied and what could be done to improve quality.
: A discussion will take place in the site office covering areas of focus, a route will be agreed, and the reviewer will visit plots on site in varying stages of build with the attendees to discuss good and poor practice based on the CQR 6-point scoring logic.
: Immersive days cost the same as a Construction Quality Review if you already take those from us. If not, the cost is £1,750 + VAT.
: Any issues highlighted will be discussed during the visit, however as this is outside of the CQR they will not contribute to CQR scores.

Timber frame Immersive Day

Timber frame is reported to be the most cost-effective structural build type. Some builders are already positioning themselves to increase their use of it as an alternative to traditional construction and, with the possibility of embodied carbon being included in a future Standard, it’s a topical area. But how do you get it right first time and what are the quality issues to look out for?

A timber frame Immersive Day will provide some of the answers. Led by one of our Construction Quality Reviewers, we’ll spend a day with your team on site running through the Construction Quality Review and Claims data we hold on timber frame construction and looking at the workmanship and processes on your site.

Suitable for those who already have an understanding of timber frame construction or those waiting to attend a formal timber frame training course that require some key areas of focus in the interim.

: NHBC’s timber frame Immersive Day is an interactive ‘deep dive’ into the key focus areas of timber frame construction. The day aims to provide guidance on common defect areas and discussion on how quality can be improved using Construction Quality Review (CQR) data.
: Initial run though on CQR and Claims data as well as builders overall build position and common problem areas. Then there will be a site walk where, during this time, participants are encouraged to identify good and poor areas. They will get to debate how that level of quality has been achieved/could be improved, using the CQR 6-point scoring logic.
: Immersive days cost the same as a Construction Quality Review if you already take those from us. If not, the cost is £1,750 + VAT.
