Salary: £60,000.00 – £74,000.00 + 10% performance bonus

Working location: Milton Keynes/London - flexibility required to support CEO's diary

Job summary:

To provide a full professional EA support in a one-to-one working relationship to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

This role is key to ensuring the CEO is effective and efficient.  It is a high-profile position within NHBC, working closely with the Executive Team (ExCo), the Chairman’s Office, Company Secretariat and Non-Executive Directors (NEDs), as well as regulators, MPs, builder customers and other senior stakeholders across the housing sector.  The role requires a high level of confidentiality, professionalism and diligence, working to high standards, and being personable, resilient and self-assured.

What you’ll be doing

  • Acts as the CEO’s key point of coordination, ensuring they are informed, prepared, and supported in all commitments.

  • Produces and reviews high-quality, confidential documents, reports, and briefing packs.

  • Manages diary, email, and priorities, handling competing demands with discretion and efficiency.

  • Oversees correspondence and calls, screening and determining appropriate action.

  • Facilitates communication between the CEO and senior leaders, building trust and credibility.

  • Tracks and drives progress on key deliverables and action logs.

  • Provides company secretarial support for ExCo, including agendas, minutes, and follow-ups.

  • Arranges CEO travel and accommodation, and supports events as needed.

  • Maintains contacts database and key organisational records (e.g., Management Committee Map).

  • Manages general administration (expenses, CPD, holidays, etc.).

  • Acts as CEO advocate and brand ambassador internally and externally.

  • Supports change initiatives and cultural shifts within NHBC.

  • Undertakes other tasks as requested by the CEO or senior colleagues.

What we’re looking for

  • An experienced PA who has worked for 5+ years at C-suite Level
  • Working with Boards, preferably in a corporate organisation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially in relation to dealing with senior executives, Non-Executive Directors and external contacts.
  • Diplomatic, patient and self-assured
  • Tenacious, discreet and diplomatic, able to handle confidential information and demonstrate the highest levels of customer/client service.
  • Always advocates and represents the CEO and NHBC in a positive and professional way.
  • Willing to get involved in projects and activities beyond their brief, in supporting of the CEO and the Executive team.
  • Willingness to work flexibly and be prepared for the unexpected
  • Knowledge of the building/construction industry
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry with good awareness of the regulatory environment
