What you’ll be doing:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Trainee Building Surveyor Apprenticeship programme with six available placements.
The successful candidates will be working towards funded four-year training and development programme on a permanent basis with NHBC. Between our training Academy and a University partner, you will obtain a degree qualification and be recognised as having a Chartership. Following the successful completion, you’ll have a permanent career at NHBC as a Chartered Building Surveyor.
Our programme will provide all the necessary tools and resources for your learning and development, you’ll also be assigned a mentor that will share their wealth of knowledge and experience to support you. Training will be split between the NHBC Academy, on the job training with an experienced peer group, online remote learning,
and one day University attendance facilitating the Apprenticeship course.
Learning via NHBC Academy has been designed to provide industry leading training, you will obtain the highest competency skills in NHBC Standards and Building regulations. In support of your career development and learning, you will meet key milestones to demonstrate your understanding, skills and knowledge. In the role of a Trainee Building Surveyor, you’ll assist internal & external customers by implementing your technical knowledge, NHBC Standards and Building Regulations.
Job summary:
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to retain and support customers by applying technical knowledge of NHBC Standards and Building Regulations. Contribute to the efficient delivery of services in line with Service Level Agreements and procedures, ensuring compliance with NHBC, customer, and statutory requirements.
Manage risk to NHBC Group on NHBC BCS on building control applications in accordance with the relevant business area SLA’s, technical policies and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure customer and statutory requirements are met.
- Manage own workload and allocated tasks
- Assist in negotiations with developers, builders and their professional advisors
- Assist with the co-ordination of building control inspections, issue of Final Certificates, site and type approvals and resolving problems relating to Initial Notices/Final certification.
- Assist in the management of the Building Regulation by supporting inspection staff with the provision of advice, inspection of building work, the identification/communication of key inspection stages and review of progress.
- Assist in the delivery of technical presentations to both internal and external customers as required.
What we’re looking for:
- An appreciation of the requirements and application of the Building Regulations.
- IT literate with the ability to use a range of software programs
- Good communication skills both verbal and written.
- Self-motivated to attain degree/professional qualification
- Positive attitude
- Able to work with limited supervision
