Job role: Sector Lead, Local Authorities

Salary: £72,000 – £91,000 + 20% performance bonus + an £8,600 Car allowance

Working location: Hybrid – typically 1–2 days per month in our Milton Keynes office, with travel as required for client meetings

Job summary:

We’re looking for a confident and driven Sector Lead, Local Authorities to take the lead in shaping NHBC’s growth with local authorities around their housing delivery. You’ll be the face of NHBC for key local authority clients; building strategic relationships, driving business development, and representing us at high-profile industry events. This is an exciting opportunity to influence our market position, strengthen our partnerships, and deliver real impact in a fast-evolving area of the housing industry.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading NHBC’s business development strategy within local authority housing partnerships, identifying new opportunities and strengthening relationships with existing clients.
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders across the industry to grow our presence and partnerships.
  • Representing NHBC at conferences, roundtables, and industry events as a senior spokesperson and thought leader.
  • Promoting NHBC’s full range of products and services, ensuring customers see the value in using us across multiple areas.
  • Overseeing sector performance, monitoring delivery, and ensuring we meet agreed business goals for volume, turnover, and profitability.
  • Collaborating internally with teams such as Underwriting, Inspection, and Customer Services to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Supporting PR and marketing activity to raise NHBC’s profile and strengthen our position in the local authority market.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in a senior relationship management or business development role, ideally within the local authority residential or construction sector.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills; confident presenting to executive-level audiences.
  • A natural networker with the ability to build long-term relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness and a strategic mindset with the drive to deliver business growth.
  • Experience working with PR or communications teams to enhance brand visibility.
  • Comfortable working independently, managing budgets, and driving initiatives from concept to completion.
  • Full UK driving licence required
