Job Role: Senior Internal Communications Manager
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 + 15% performance bonus
Working Location: Milton Keynes – minimum of two days per week in the office

Job summary:
We’re looking for a Senior Internal Communications Manager to elevate how we communicate, connect and engage across NHBC. You’ll lead our internal communications function, shaping clear, purposeful messaging that helps colleagues understand our direction and feel part of our shared goals. Working closely with senior leaders and teams across the business, you’ll be a trusted advisor and the champion of simple, effective storytelling. What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the development and delivery of a strategic internal communications plan aligned to the Group Business Plan.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, ensuring clarity, consistency and impact in all strategic communications.
- Championing simple, precise and engaging messaging across all channels and colleague groups.
- Using insight, feedback and metrics to continuously improve how we communicate.
- Working closely with Marketing & Communications colleagues to articulate our purpose, vision and priorities.
- Making the most of our platforms and channels to strengthen the NHBC brand and support business growth.
- Leading, developing and mentoring a small internal communications team.
- Bringing fresh thinking and benchmarking to keep NHBC ahead of internal comms trends.
- Planning and delivering targeted communications that reach the right people at the right time.
- Supporting business transformation and customer‑journey initiatives with clear, purposeful messaging.
- Managing expectations and guiding internal clients towards realistic, effective communication solutions.
- Supporting video and content requirements for internal events.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong internal communications experience, ideally within a corporate environment.
- Confidence advising and influencing senior leaders with clarity and credibility.
- Experience leading or supporting teams, with a collaborative and supportive approach.
- Excellent writing, editing and interpersonal skills, with a passion for clear, high‑quality communication.
- Creative thinking and the ability to simplify complex messages for different audiences.
- Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise, set clear goals and meet deadlines.
- Experience planning and creating content for internal events (advantageous).
- Comfortable using insight and feedback to shape decisions and improve outcomes.
- Good understanding of internal comms channels, tools and current trends.
- Experience supporting change or transformation programmes (highly beneficial).
- Knowledge of the housebuilding, construction, insurance or sales environment (helpful but not essential).
