What to expect from the Best Practice Seminars

Following the success of the sold-out event in 2024, this year will see the return of an in-depth walkthrough of the Pride in the Job assessment process by NHBC regional directors and external judges.

This gives attendees the chance to find out what they think makes the difference at each stage, including advice and tips for success. The seminars also feature previous award-winning site managers who will share how they have engaged with and inspired their teams.

For more than 40 years Pride in the Job has helped to raise standards in house building. The competition encourages new ideas that support innovation and developments in building practices.

In addition to the distinction of winning at Pride in the Job, these awards also have a lasting impact on sites, ensuring knowledge and skills are shared with the next generation and the entire team benefit from the mentorship of an award-winning site manager.

That is why each Best Practice Seminar will feature insightful advice and guidance from past winners, people who have first-hand experience of the exciting but nonetheless demanding Pride in the Job journey.

The Pride in the Job journey

Pride in the Job is truly accessible to all. Every site manager with a site registered for an NHBC Buildmark warranty is automatically entered. The competition covers England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, and is open to businesses of all sizes with no entry forms or fees.

Judging for the competition is rigorous, with thousands of site inspections happening across the UK. It takes place over 18 months and includes assessment across six key areas:

1. consistency

2. attention to detail

3. leadership

4. interpretation of drawings and specifications

5. technical expertise

6. and health and safety.
