Buildmark provides buyer(s) with deposit protection from exchange of contracts as well as warranty and insurance cover for the home for up to 10 years after the legal completion date.
We are the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes in the UK. Our Buildmark product covers 70-80% of new homes built in the UK. Builders value their association with us and our 80+ years' experience in helping to improve the construction standards of new homes.
Our building inspectors typically carry out over 900,000 on-site inspections at key build stages each year, supporting the industry in the delivery of high-quality, new homes. The relationships our field-based inspectors have with builders, backed by our extensive in-house technical expertise and full customer service support, are highly valued.
For consistency, quality and efficiency many of our builders choose to work with us for Building Control as well as services such as health and safety consultancy, energy ratings and land quality endorsement. We are a unique source of information, data and support.
Whether it's managing sites via the NHBC portal or comparing the performance of sites through My Reports, we have online services to support builders from pre-construction to after-sales.
Buildmark is our warranty and insurance product for newly built or newly converted homes. It currently protects around 1.5 million homes in the UK.
Buildmark provides pre-completion deposit protection; a two year builder warranty period backed by the NHBC resolution service and guarantee; and then an eight year insurance policy for physical damage to the home caused by a failure to build to the NHBC Technical Requirements.
The above applies to policies for plots registered with us from 1 October 2019. Please see the full Buildmark policy document below for all the conditions and exclusions that apply. Homes registered prior to 1 October 2019 may benefit from insurance protection for certain breaches of Building Regulations if NHBC Building Control Services Limited is appointed for and carries out building control for the property. If we have provided this cover, it will be clearly shown on the Buildmark insurance certificate, and a description of the cover included in the policy booklet. Please refer to your own policy documents for all the terms and conditions that apply to your home.
* The minimum claim value explained: We don’t require policyholders to pay the first part of any claim. Instead, we operate a minimum claim value (MCV) which means that if the cost of a valid claim exceeds the MCV we will do the work or pay the cost in full and the policyholder will not have to make any contribution. The MCV for plots registered from 1 April 2019 is £1,750 (increasing by £50 on 1 April in each subsequent year).
