Employee networks

Our Employee Networks greatly contribute to creating our inclusive environment and building a sense of community.

What are employee networks?

We are passionate about having a respectful and supportive workplace. NHBC encourages employees to bring their whole self to work and to help us create an inclusive work environment.

One way we are moving towards this is through our Be Me: Employee Networks. Our four networks are run by employees for employees and are made up of groups of colleagues who share characteristics or life experiences. Members set the agenda and decide on how they want to run. They introduce role models, open dialogue about important issues, support employees with their personal development and help people to connect with others. Our networks also advise and guide NHBC as it works to be an inclusive employer.

Enabled Network

Enabled is our most recent colleague network which aims to raise awareness and educate our colleagues on topics relating to the protected characteristic of disability and long-term health conditions. With the introduction of the network, we hope to provide a voice to colleagues with diverse abilities by sharing their real-life experience to inform and educate others.

Proud Network

We want our LGBTQ+ colleagues to bring their whole selves to work. Our Proud Network raises awareness and helps to influence company policies to build a more inclusive workplace at NHBC. The group is made up of LGBT+ employees and allies who have family or friends within the LGBT+ community - or who simply wish to pledge their support or develop their understanding. By providing dedicated support and role models in the workplace, the network is helping to break down barriers, remove stigma and offer positive visibility and reassurance for all our employees.

Race Equality Network

Our Race Equality Network is about creating a diverse working environment for staff which is open, supportive and helps promote equal opportunities for those from ethnic backgrounds. We want our members to participate and contribute at work as their authentic and unique selves, helping educate others around them. The network has already delivered a number of initiatives to give a voice to our diverse colleague profile as we continue on NHBC’s journey to build a better version of itself.

Women’s Network

Our Women’s Network within NHBC is there to support, develop and create a voice for women in a predominantly male-dominated industry. We want to give opportunities and ensure career progression for everyone based upon ability and attitude and to champion the continued development of women in our business. The Women’s Network is open to all and we encourage male allies to join to help us on the journey.
