Senior Engineer - Accepts
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + 10% performance bonus + regional allowance

Job summary:
As a Senior Engineer delivering NHBC Accepts as a service, you will assess information submitted on Innovative Systems - Modern Methods of Construction, to determine if they meet NHBC standards for acceptance under the Buildmark warranty program, which protects homeowners during and after construction.
What you’ll be doing
You will review engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical data, coordinating with fire engineers, building control surveyors, and specialists. Additionally, you will liaise with manufacturers, builders, consultants, and developers to gather necessary information and ensure systems meet requirements. After completing your review, you will communicate key details to colleagues to assist with technical risk management and inspections.
You will also maintain ownership of accepted systems, periodically reviewing them for changes in standards, regulations, or the system itself. As part of the commercial service, you will manage projects, influence quotations, and may participate in contract negotiations.
- Review technical information against standards and best practices.
- Manage technical risk through informed decision-making.
- Develop fee proposals and support financial management.
- Liaise with stakeholders and provide design feedback.
- Visit sites and plants to assess system production and installation.
- Stay updated on technical complexities through research.
What we’re looking for
- A depth of engineering experience and knowledge across a mixture of building types and familiarity with Modern Methods of Construction.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, ability to work with external and internal partners and challenge where required, ability to present to large audiences.
- Strong understanding of the design and construction of sub-structure and superstructure in common structural materials.
- Ability to assess engineering designs from first principles.
- Making complex engineering decisions to manage technical risk.
- Good level of I.T. skills, familiar with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Good organisational skills and an ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and act on own initiative.
- Chartered Engineer status such as ICE/ MICE/ BEng/ IStructE or other appropriate professional body.
- Construction-related Degree or equivalent qualification i.e. HNC diploma or equivalent.
