AI Architect

Salary: £79,000 - £84,869 plus 15% performance bonus

Working location: Milton Keynes, Hybrid

Employment type: Full time, Permanent

Job Summary:

We’re looking for an AI Architect to guide how NHBC integrates AI tools into our platforms and services. You’ll focus on making AI adoption secure, scalable, and aligned with business priorities, enabling teams to explore opportunities like intelligent search, document summarisation, and workflow automation with confidence.

Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, you’ll provide both technical and strategic direction on AI integration, vendor evaluation, API and data considerations, and governance standards, helping NHBC adopt AI in a controlled, value driven way.

What you’ll do

  • Define and maintain NHBC’s enterprise approach to AI adoption
  • Evaluate AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Salesforce AgentForce, Snowflake Cortex) for capability, cost, and integration
  • Design integration patterns for AI features, including APIs, security, and interaction with existing data models
  • Collaborate with platform, engineering, and business teams to identify safe, high impact use cases
  • Support AI governance, including risk assessments, human in the loop safeguards, and data protection
  • Lead or contribute to AI proof of concept projects and experiments
  • Define reference patterns, naming conventions, and metadata standards for AI
  • Stay up-to-date on enterprise AI trends, foundation models, and regulatory developments
  • Advise colleagues on the responsible and ethical use of AI

What you’ll bring

  • Experience integrating AI capabilities into enterprise platforms or SaaS environments
  • Familiarity with cloud native AI tools like Microsoft Copilot or Salesforce AgentForce
  • Understanding of AI workflow architecture, UI augmentation, and data integration
  • Ability to translate business needs into feasible AI use cases
  • Clear communicator, balancing innovation with risk, compliance, and ethics
  • Awareness of AI interactions with enterprise data platforms, identity, and access controls
  • Understanding of data privacy, retention, and responsible AI principles
  • Technical knowledge of MLOps, API lifecycle, and low-code/AI augmentation tools
  • Degree in data, computing, systems, or a related field
