Job role: Internal Communications Manager

Salary: £52,000 – £56,000 + 10% performance bonus

Working location: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the Milton Keynes office and occasional travel required depending on business needs

Employment type: Full Time, Permanent

Job summary

We’re looking for an Internal Communications Manager who can bring stories to life, strengthen colleague connections and shape how information flows across NHBC. In this role, you’ll lead our core communication channels, partner with teams across the business and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders. From crafting compelling content to developing new ways for colleagues to engage, you’ll play a key part in building an informed, connected and motivated workforce.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning and delivering our weekly all-colleague newsletter and monthly manager update.
  • Acting as an in-house journalist – sourcing stories, creating content and editing contributions.
  • Keeping our intranet fresh, relevant and engaging.
  • Building strong relationships across NHBC to uncover great stories and share positive news.
  • Developing clear, creative and accessible content aligned to our purpose and strategy.
  • Advising teams like HR on communications plans, messaging and campaign delivery.
  • Supporting internal campaigns, including health and wellbeing and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
  • Exploring and recommending new channel opportunities, such as Viva Engage.
  • Evaluating channel performance and using insights to improve engagement.
  • Working closely with Marketing & Communications colleagues to align internal and external activity.
  • Providing support during critical events or business interruptions when needed.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in an internal communications role, managing a mix of channels.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Confident communicator who can build positive relationships and influence senior leaders.
  • Someone both strategic and hands-on, comfortable juggling multiple priorities.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Creative thinker who can bring stories and ideas to life.
  • Confident working in a fast-paced environment and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of tools such as SharePoint and content management systems.
  • Bonus points for experience with Viva Engage, financial services or housebuilding or working closely with HR teams.
