NHBC has launched its biggest ever trainee recruitment drive – as part of its mission to help tackle house building’s skills crisis.
We are recruiting for up to 30 trainee roles across building inspection, surveying, technical consulting and quality analysis, providing new opportunities for people from all career backgrounds.
The new, nationwide vacancies will encourage greater diversity in house building, with those of all ages and experiences who are passionate about construction quality and safety encouraged to apply.
Their creation reflects our commitment to help address industry skills shortages and support the Government’s pledge to build 1.5 million homes during this parliament.
As the UK’s market-leading independent new home warranty and insurance provider, we work to raise standards in house building and protect homeowners.
A key part of this vital work is providing training and development opportunities, which is why we have also invested £100m in our national network of 12 multi-skill training hubs to support up to 3,000 apprenticeships a year.
Paul Turner, Chief Executive Officer at NHBC, said: “Our main priority as a business is to contribute to getting more great-quality homes built quickly, safely and skilfully all over the country.
“The trainees who seize this chance to learn from our industry-leading experts within an inclusive working environment will bring their talents and enthusiasm to bear right away.
“We’re proud to not only work with our customers to improve quality standards, but also to take direct action like this to tackle the challenges they face.”
The four different types of trainee role now available from NHBC have varying durations, responsibilities and eligibility requirements.
We are recruiting for 15 trainee building inspectors, four trainee technical building consultants and four trainee construction quality analysts.
Up to six new trainee building surveyors will embark on a fully funded four-year degree apprenticeship programme featuring in-person sessions at the University of Wolverhampton – and resulting in both a BSc (Hons) in Building Control and membership of a chartered body.
Josh Golding, Training Manager at NHBC, said: “We cannot wait to build successful long-term careers with our new trainees.
“Whether you are entering work for the first time or want to switch from an entirely different career, these roles offer a perfect entry to the construction industry.
“Our focus on mentoring, training and professional development means trainees can achieve recognised qualifications and progress through four specialist career pathways that will take them as far as they want to go.”
