NHBC, the UK’s leading independent provider of warranty and insurance for new homes, has announced it will be working with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) to provide end-point assessment for its Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor apprenticeship standard.

Co-created with industry experts and leading house builders, NHBC’s Level 4 Site Supervisor apprenticeship sees trainees undertake ten virtually-delivered modules over a 14-month period. Delivered by NHBC residential build experts, this format means the course can be completed alongside employment from anywhere in the UK.

Training content focuses on new-builds and meets the requirements of major house builders. By the end of the programme, participants will have achieved a higher apprenticeship by completing an end-point assessment facilitated by CIOB, which includes a demonstration of competences against the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the occupational standard. They will also receive a mandated qualification by achieving an industry-recognised NVQ Level 4 in Site Supervision.

Apprentices will have the opportunity to register for CIOB student membership as soon as they sign-up, with access to CIOB's library and many online resources. Other benefits include free or discounted access to hundreds of events and site visits, plus automatic access to a new technical grade of CIOB membership following successful completion of the apprenticeship and passing their end-point assessment.

Joshua Golding, Training Manager at NHBC commented: “We’re pleased to be working with CIOB to provide end-point assessment for our Level 4 Site Supervisor apprenticeship. This is a great course, encompassing so many skills, and gives our trainees a fantastic foundation to build their career. CIOB is a trusted industry body with a proud heritage and this partnership further strengthens our Site Supervisor Apprenticeship programme, helping to provide ongoing development for our learners.”

Steve Conopo, Apprenticeship Manager at CIOB said: “Our partnership with NHBC, employers and their apprentices will help to further promote the importance of apprenticeships in construction and the built environment. The apprenticeship journey NHBC has in place will ensure apprentices are fully prepared for their final end-point assessment with CIOB and give employers confidence that a true measure of their apprentices’ competence is guaranteed.

“The direct route access to a new technical membership grade, we will introduce in 2023, will provide apprentices we assess with professional body membership and open many opportunities for them including ongoing CPD and a place in our Tomorrow’s Leaders Community.”

NHBC has over 340 learners on its Site Supervisor apprenticeship and Barratt Developments, Bellway, Cameron Homes, Gleeson, Hill Partnerships, Hopkins, Persimmon, Redrow, Story Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Vistry Group and Wain Homes have all signed up to use CIOB as their End-Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO) through NHBC.

Kelly Canfield, Future Talent Development Manager at Taylor Wimpey said: “We’re delighted to be progressing our NHBC Site Supervisor apprentices to their end-point assessments with CIOB. And the additional benefits offered by CIOB, including the opportunity to gain membership of a professional body and access to their online resources, is just another way we’re all working to support these learners and give them a great start in construction.”
