NHBC helped shape the UK house-building industry’s voice at Housing 2026 – with speakers in two key sessions and by hosting an exclusive breakfast for sector leaders.
More than 9,000 attendees and 350 exhibitors gathered at the Manchester Central Convention Complex from 23 to 25 June for the latest iteration of Housing, an event that has now taken place for 70 years.
As the country’s leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes, NHBC played a significant part in discussions around current challenges and future opportunities.
Tim Reid, Customer Relationship Director, chaired the ‘Supporting and working with developers’ session featuring executives from Homes England, Capital&Centric and MADE Partnership (a partnership between Barratt Redrow, Homes England and Lloyds Banking Group).
The panel explored the tools, capacity and resources that Homes England and the National Housing Bank will mobilise when working with developers of all sizes to accelerate delivery and increase supply.
Key talking points included interventions to unblock land, enabling access to small sites and using joint ventures, equity investment and direct debt finance to boost funding.
Next, NHBC’s Director of Business Change Roger Morton joined Homes England CEO Amy Rees CB, Allison Homes CEO John Anderson and Crown Estate Head of Strategic Land Rob Chesworth for ‘Delivering homes at scale’.
Partnerships and collaboration were again top of the agenda in the session chaired by Guardian columnist Gaby Hinsliff, which focused on how a diversified housing supply chain can help meet growing demand at speed and scale.
And away from the main conference schedule, NHBC’s living sector team put on a Recharge Breakfast for specially selected industry players including representatives from Barratt London, L&G Affordable Homes, Charm Living, Peabody and the Northern Housing Consortium.
There, guests were asked three core questions: what single change they’d make to improve housing delivery, what issue requires greater industry collaboration and what gives them the most confidence as they look ahead.
Housing 2026 marked just the latest in a string of events attended by NHBC’s busy team, coming hot off the heels of the UK Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum – or UKREiiF – in Leeds last month.
Tim Reid said: “It’s never been more important for everyone in the industry to work together, so NHBC is playing a critical role in fostering new conversations.
“Our unique perspective is always highly valued at Housing, but this year’s breakfast also gave us the chance to hear directly from the people building, designing, funding and investing in projects across the country.
“The consistent message was loud and clear: despite the economic and global challenges we all face, there’s plenty to be optimistic about because so many organisations share the goal of delivering more high-quality homes in the coming years.”
Following Housing 2026, NHBC will continue to hold and attend regular events throughout the UK.
Sector Lead Niki Kyriacou is a confirmed speaker at London’s Build to Rent Forum in October, when NHBC will also be a table sponsor of the Love to Rent Build to Rent Awards.
BEYOND ’27 LIVE, NHBC’s own must-attend home building conference, returns to the CBS Arena in Coventry on 4 March 2027 with well over 1,400 people expected to attend.
Meanwhile, NHBC’s growing network of purpose-built training hubs is supporting the construction industry by preparing the next generation of site-ready talent through accelerated apprenticeship programmes, often in as little as 14 months.
