Pride in the Job Awards 2020
40 year anniversary
WE'RE PROUD: Pride in the Job is 40!
Pride in the Job celebrates its 40th year in 2020 and we are PROUD of what the competition has contributed to the house-building industry in that time.
Over its four decades, Pride in the Job has been at the heart of our core purpose to build confidence in the quality of new homes.
By promoting competition between site managers, by showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence, Pride in the Job continues to encourage site managers to build homes of the highest quality.
As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations we interviewed two Pride in the Job judges with, between, them nearly 70 years’ judging experience. Watch the video below and read the full interview here, including their top tips on how to win.
About Pride in the Job
Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded competition in our industry. It’s the one all site managers want to win, and for some, described as the pinnacle of their career.
All site managers are automatically entered into the competition if they are working on a site registered for NHBC warranty. There are no entry fees or forms.
The competition is fully inclusive and representative of the UK house-building industry with four categories for different sized businesses: Small, Medium, Multi-storey and Large.
House building is always a team effort, but we know that the calibre of the site manager has the greatest influence on the quality of the end product. Winning site managers demonstrate incredible dedication, passion, commitment and leadership to produce homes of exceptional quality.
Will you feel the PRIDE?
The 2020 competition is already underway with Quality Award winners already announced and Seals of Excellence and Regional Awards being revealed in October and November at a series of virtual regional events. In the meantime, judging for the 2021 competition has begun. So, if you weren’t successful this year, there’s plenty of time to impress and get your name in lights next year.
How the competition works

Pride in the Job Awards 2020
You can see who’s won in each region in this year’s competition at the link below. Just 450 site managers from an initial pool of around 11,000 were chosen to receive a Quality Award. From this pool, we’ve selected Seals of Excellence and Regional Award winners.
With the current Covid-19 restrictions in place, it’s not been possible to run our usual series of live Pride in the Job regional awards ceremonies. This year we took the events online and our virtual regional awards took place in October and November. It gave us the opportunity to ensure that our Quality Award winners were recognised appropriately and to announce the Seal of Excellence and Regional winners. The events took place on:
