Multi-skill training hubs
We're investing £100M in multi-skill training hubs across the UK

Join us in tackling the UK house-building skills shortage
We are investing £100 million in a national network of 12 new multi-skill training hubs. These will tackle the skills shortage head-on, ultimately supporting 3,000 apprenticeships a year and providing skilled, site-ready tradespeople in the local areas that need them most.
What will the multi-skill training hubs deliver?
- Critical trades - these hubs will provide apprenticeships and training for skills in critical demand such as bricklaying, groundwork and site carpentry.
- Adaptable provision – the hub design will be flexible, able to offer training in other trades or skills as local housing needs and regulations change.
- Quality - every apprentice will be trained to deliver to our high standards of quality.
- Fast-track - our fast-track approach will enable apprentices to complete their training in just 14 to 18 months – nearly twice as fast as other more traditional programmes.
- Industry-leading retention - site-like conditions at our training hubs give apprentices realistic work experience from day one, contributing to our industry-leading retention rate.
Our established training hubs
We currently have four training hubs located in Tamworth, Hull, Newcastle and Cambridge. These are purpose-built facilities, close to working sites, that provide a realistic environment for our apprentices to learn their trade. They host our apprentices for periods of block learning at the start and then during their apprenticeship programmes.
What our apprentices and employer partners say

NHBC and GSQ Brickwork partnership
GSQ Brickwork are brickwork contractors specialising in new build housing, working with major house builders in London and across the South East.

Anna Milne, Redrow's Head of Talent
"The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from all taking part with all of them benefitting from a simulated work environment, which will ultimately mean they are able to make a smooth transition back to site."

Callum Quinn, Keepmoat
Once Callum left school, he decided to try a bricklaying course. After testing the waters of a career in construction at college he knew it was what he wanted to do and pursued an apprenticeship to hone his skills.

Leeanna Smith, Redrow
“I’m really proud of being able to say I have built quite a few things! For example, walls with lots of different details. I have helped create bay windows which are quite challenging so it’s hard work, but very rewarding."
