What does a typical day in your role at NHBC look like and what do you enjoy most about your job?
A typical day involves project management of many varied developments and responsibility for enforcement of building regulation legislation and compliance. Working with colleagues across all parts of the business, in addition to communicating with developers, designers and contractors, the role is satisfying in knowing that you are contributing to raising both technical standards and managing compliance.
What attracted you to NHBC and how does working here compare to your previous experiences in the industry?
Having worked in building control for many years, NHBC has provided me with the opportunity to work on several varied and challenging projects that keeps me motivated. I have also found it enables collaboration with an experienced team of colleagues in addition to offering a healthy work/life balance.
How does NHBC support your professional development and career growth?
During my time at NHBC I have continually found opportunities and encouragement for staff to progress and gain additional skills. Additionally, a wide range of CPD courses are available to maintain knowledge and navigate the constantly changing industry and profession.
What’s one project or achievement you’re particularly proud of since joining NHBC?
As a surveyor, obtaining registration to practice within building control as a Registered Building Inspector is something I am particularly proud of! Thankfully NHBC supported all staff needing to obtain registration with both technical and financial assistance to navigate this.
