Understanding data feeds

Our Data Services include the latest information from our own unique inspection and claims data direct from sites.

Our data feeds allow curated data collected on active sites by NHBC Building Inspectors. This means users can extract key intelligence and, if necessary, take decisive action to address issues as soon as possible and prevent any negative impact on the build process.

Turning data into insight

Daily data feeds provide the business with up-to-date information and deliver value far beyond the initial investment.

By integrating Data Service feeds into its own reporting and dashboard capability, Miller Homes has been able to identify trends earlier, investigate underlying causes more quickly and focus attention where it will have the greatest impact. This supports faster, more informed decision-making across the business and helps potential issues to be addressed before they can impact build quality or the customer experience.

Steven Black, Group Customer Service Director at Miller Homes, said, “The newer data catalogue [from NHBC] provides much richer insight. By accessing and analysing different data feeds, we can identify trends and carry out deeper analysis of emerging issues with greater speed and efficiency than would otherwise be possible. That enables us to respond earlier, improve performance and keep enhancing the experience we provide for our customers.”

Supporting better decisions at every level

Miller Homes uses data-driven dashboards across the organisation, from Site Managers through to the Executive Committee and Quality Committee.

This shared view of performance means teams can ask targeted questions, monitor site-level KPIs more effectively and make decisions based on clear evidence, rather than instinct alone. It also helps the business direct resources and support where they will add the most value, while maintaining a broader view of how performance in one area can influence outcomes in another.

Steven Black explained, “Bringing multiple data sources together helps us answer questions with confidence and clarity. It also allows us to understand not just what is happening, but why. That means we can focus on the right actions, in the right places, at the right time – which is critical to driving continuous improvement and delivering consistently for our customers.”

Strengthening performance through constructive relationships

The insight generated through our data feeds also supports Miller Homes’ work with contractors and supply chain partners.

As the data provides an objective view of performance, it enables constructive, evidence-based conversations about both improvement opportunities and areas of strong delivery. This helps create a more collaborative approach to performance management, supports consistency across sites and contributes to better outcomes for all.

Steven Black added, “One of the real strengths of a data-led approach is that it creates a clear and objective basis for discussion. Whether we are highlighting an opportunity to improve or recognising strong performance, the conversation is grounded in evidence. That helps us work more effectively with our contractors and, in turn, results in better outcomes for our customers.”
