My name is Louisa Davis and my role is a First Contact Advisor. As a First Contact Advisor I take a variety of calls throughout the day from customers as well as dealing with any online claims.

Can you describe a typical day at NHBC as a Claims Handler?

The calls can range from general enquiries about our policy to more complex claims where I would need to speak to other teams to get advice on progressing claims. You need to be good at listening and understanding what your customer is explaining to get an overview of their concerns.

What skills or qualities make someone successful in this role?

You need to be able to problem solve and to communicate clearly so the customer understands. You need to be empathetic and supportive as each call you deal with will be different.

What do you enjoy the most about working at NHBC?

It is very supportive here. Everyone is happy to help you.

Since my time at NHBC, I have spoken to many different people from various teams who are all friendly and provide great advice to learn and grow.
